For the past three weeks the city has been doing sewer work near our house. We should have expected cacophony, but no one tells you that when they dig up the ENTIRE street – they have to cover the big ass holes with bigger ass slabs of iron – which, when moved, make thumps akin to earth quakes. Every morning promptly at 7 am the moving of the slabs has awakened us. Over the holiday weekend, our neighbor had a roof put on, so even those days had construction noise to rouse us. This morning, someone had a medical emergency, so the ambulance and fire truck rumbled down the block before we had gotten out of bed. I realized that I have been living in a toddler boys dream! Trucks, front loaders and jackhammers. Oh my!
